Partnership

I’m not much of a basketball player, but if I team up with LeBron James, the two of us could defeat everyone I know. Of course, it wouldn’t be my skill or expertise that wins the victory for us. The credit for that would have to go to LeBron.

I see the same principle at work in our ministry here at South Mountain Christian Camp. October is so busy, it can make your head spin. Between our weekend retreats, environmental education programs, and pumpkin patch, we’ve been going strong seven days a week all month long. Toss in the food distribution program and annual 5k race, and we had no fewer than 1,200 people here this month. Providing meals, lodging, teaching, and activities for these various groups is a big task for a small staff like ours, but we’re up to the challenge because we are in partnership with the Lord. It’s He who makes the difference, not us.

Several of our guests this month have commented about how powerfully they could sense the presence of the Lord here. Bill and Teri said, “We have been tremendously blessed to have come and visited.” Ian marveled about the peaceful atmosphere and said, “We connected with God and fellowshipped as a family.” Connie commented, “It is amazing to see all that God is doing here at SMCC,” and James added, “The Spirit of God is evident everywhere you go on the camp.”

Every time we prepare a meal, sweep a floor, mow a field, lead a game, or teach a lesson, it is in partnership with Jesus Christ. We are simply an extension of His powerful love to these people. And it's not just staff members. Every donor, volunteer, and prayer supporter is also an equal partner in this ministry. Together we are providing opportunities for these encounters to take place.
