More Than I Expected

I thought I was walking into a room full of strangers, but instead I found myself in a room full of friends. Last month we hosted our 4th annual Dale Sollars Autumn Classic disc golf tournament, and, as I looked around at all the players registering for the event, it struck me how much God has accomplished here through this sport.

When the Lord gave me a desire to install a disc golf course several years ago, I never realized how many lives would be impacted through it, but nearly every face in that room was a reminder of how God has used disc golf to expand and amplify our ministry. There was the youth pastor who had first come here to play with a friend and has since been back multiple times with his youth group for various events. There was the couple who enjoyed the sport, but fell in love with the camp and have spent countless hours volunteering here as well. There were the factory workers who had connected us with their administrative staff to obtain generous contribution through corporate donations. And there were the players who have brought their kids to summer camp here, many of whom have come to know Christ as a result. The list could go on and on, but you get the idea.

I can’t overlook, however, the members of the local So-Mo disc golf club. These guys have worked hard to improve and upgrade our course over the years. They are the ones who plan and organize the annual tournament, and other events, raising funds for our summer camp program in the process. They are some of our biggest fans, and we are theirs as well.

My vision for the disc golf course was just to have a fun activity for the camp kids, but God saw something bigger. Just like everything else that He does here at South Mountain, He accomplishes extraordinary things through ordinary people.

He does the same thing through you. Your life in the hands of God brings about remarkable results. Give yourself to Him today, and see what He can accomplish!
