What a Team!

Last month was special. After months of single-day events and small family groups, we were finally able to host some weekend church retreats. It was a lot of work with extra sanitizing, social distancing, and face coverings, but it was so fulfilling. This is what South Mountain Christian Camp is all about—giving people a break from their regular routine to gain new experiences together with the Lord in this beautiful outdoor setting. It sets the stage for personal encounters with God, and, let me tell you, He did not disappoint us.

One particular group reported that, during their time at SMCC, nine young people received salvation and two others rededicated their lives to the Lord. Nearly half of their attendees had a life-changing experience here in one weekend. Think about that for a moment. This is the result of God working through a team of people who are committed to this ministry. From the initial reservation, to the cleaning and maintenance, to food service and recreation, a lot of people were involved in creating the atmosphere for these personal encounters with God.

But it really started before the reservation was even made. It began with another group of team members--our supporters whose donations made that weekend possible. These individuals played a vital role in each one of those weekend encounters with God because, without them, SMCC could not stay in operation. God is working through them as much as He is through our staff to bring life-long change and spiritual healing to people who are hurting, and He’s not finished yet.

As we close out a challenging but miraculous year, we see that God remains faithful. I have heard reports from other camps who have had to close down this year, some of them permanently. Because of SMCC's supporters, however, this ministry continues to offer a place where people can meet with God.

We are already busy planning and preparing for Summer Camp 2021. It’s going to require some adjustments and change, but we are following the Lord’s lead with open hearts and minds. It’s so good to know that you are on this journey with us.
