Unusual Ministry

Ministry takes many forms—some of them are unexpected.

We always anticipate hundreds of opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ during summer camp, but ministry is also taking place here today. Last month, we hosted a men’s retreat and a youth retreat. People came to know the Lord on both weekends—their lives forever altered by an encounter with God on this beautiful property.

This week, we have our first-ever Spring Wilderness Week, taking teens backpacking into the South Mountains for tent camping, cooking over the fire, and experiencing the love of God in nature. We know that God will use this time to draw these kids closer to Him.

There are also ministry opportunities that don’t fit the usual mold. For example, the disc golfer who stopped by the office to pay his course fee but ended up staying for a while to talk about the Lord and ask soul-searching questions. Or the exterminator who was overwhelmed by the beauty of the camp and desperately wanted to know more about what we do here. Even the camp supporter who stopped by for a brief visit and ended up staying for an hour to talk. All of these are opportunities to share the love of God and minister to the needs of the individual.

You have a ministry too. It might take the form of an opportunity to be a blessing to your neighbor, to share your favorite scripture with a friend who is hurting, or to pray with your family tonight. Whatever the case, God can use you to make a difference.

If you would like to partner with the ministry of South Mountain Christian Camp through your giving, you can do so with the donate button below, or mail your donation to PO Box 9, Bostic NC 28018.
