The Wild West

It was a wild west showcase here last month at our annual Open House and Banquet with western-themed decorations, a bank-robbery skit, and barrel train rides. Over 160 people came together for the event, celebrating all that the Lord is doing here at South Mountain Christian Camp.

The Open House began with the dedication of our new barrel train in memory of longtime supporter Dusty Rhodes. Afterwards, we offered hayrides, barrel train rides, and guided tours of the Camp.

At 6:00 pm, we held the Banquet in the Joy Center. During the meal, I had the opportunity to introduce our camp staff and board members and to acknowledge all our banquet sponsors. We then presented our summer camp theme, “Wanted by God,” with an old western skit featuring a bank robbery, a sheriff tracking down the criminal, and a surprise twist at the end.

The banquet program also featured a testimony from a camper parent about the impact SMCC has had on his children and the premier of our newest camp video. An offering was received at the end of the night, raising much-needed funds for this summer.

Overall, the entire day was a tremendous success, and we are very thankful for that. As we prepare for a very busy summer of ministry, we realize that none of this could be possible without our supporters. Each one is an essential part of our team, and we deeply appreciate them. If you missed the event, you can find photos and video on our Facebook page.
