Something New

In a world where "normal" seems to have evaporated with the morning dew, I have some exciting news. As I sit on my front porch writing this, it is all around me--too obvious to be overlooked. New life is springing forth. Flowers are blooming, bees are buzzing, and birds are singing their hearts out to the glory of God. It is another reminder that He brings life out of death, and it takes me to Isaiah 43:19, "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

In many ways, this month has been very different at South Mountain. All of our weekend retreats have been cancelled due to the "stay at home" order. It creates a financial shortfall for us, but it prepares the way for God to do something new. We believe that He will provide for our needs and make a way through this wilderness. Our partnership with our financial supporters has never been more important, and we are so grateful to have them on our team.

In the meantime, we are still moving forward with our plans for summer camp. Well over 500 campers are already signed up with more registrations coming in every week. Of course, we're keeping a watchful eye on government regulations in the battle against this virus, and, if we have to change plans, that's just another opportunity for God to do a new thing.

For the time being, we have been able to continue a few essential operations. From hosting a food distribution service for families in need, to providing safe, outdoor space for family activities like hiking, disc golf, and fishing, we're doing what we can to help people through this time.

In times like these, our camp supporters shine more brightly than ever. God works through them to "make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
