Partners in Ministry

This is a tough one. For the first time since 1974, we are not able to operate our traditional summer camp programs this year due to restrictions and safety concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. It is heartbreaking. But, in the midst of the pain and loss, God is doing something new, exciting, and miraculous. Isn't that just like Him?

Even though we cannot pay them, several of our summer staff members have offered to come as volunteers to help us create free online content for our campers. They'll be using videos to teach campers new games, craft projects, and daily Bible lessons. They'll also hold virtual talent shows and interactive contests. Later in the summer, if restrictions are eased, we also hope to host some one-day experiences here at camp or even go into some of the communities where our campers live for "backyard VBS" style events.

On top of all this, God has chosen this time to move us forward in the construction on our new Multi-Purpose Building. The planning stage is nearing completion, and we expect to break ground on this building soon. As if on cue, a donor showed up last month with thousands of dollars' worth of construction tools to donate, along with a 2005 Toyota Tacoma pickup--exactly what we needed to work on this project!

It's absolutely amazing how the Lord works so powerfully through our volunteers and donors. These are true partners in ministry. Their support during these uncertain times keeps this ministry focused on the things that really matter--reaching kids for Christ. Even though the cancellation of our summer camp creates a financial shortfall for us, we are trusting in God to carry us through.

If you would like to make a special donation to South Mountain Christian Camp during these uncertain times, you can do so with the donate button below, or mail your donation to PO Box 9, Bostic NC 28018.
