More Than We Imagined

This month began with a bittersweet moment for me. It brought the end of something special and ushered in something exciting. For 14 of the past 19 years, I have had the opportunity to train, equip, and encourage Christian camp leaders from four states as a member of the leadership team for the Carolinas-Virginias section of Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA). This month I am stepping out of that position in order to fill a new role at a national level on CCCA's Board of Directors.

CCCA's mission is to maximize ministry for member camps and conference centers. In this new position, I will represent all members in the southeast United States at the Board of Directors meetings in Colorado Springs. With the Coronavirus pandemic forcing camps across the country to close their doors to Spring retreats, there has never been a more important time for Christian camps to band together in prayer, support, and guidance for one another. As the Southeast Regional Rep, God is opening up a new door to use me in ways I never could have imagined, impacting Christian camps and their leaders all across the country.

God is also using South Mountain Christian Camp in ways we never could have imagined. While our summer camp programs are filled to capacity, we are making a difference in other areas as well. Our educational programs reach over 1,000 students each year. We partner with Salem United Methodist Church to distribute food every month to those in need. Our weekly Bible study is streamed live on YouTube and Facebook. Our social media platforms reach thousands with daily devotionals and encouragement. Add to the mix a weekly radio program, frequent speaking engagements, mentoring programs, and books; and you'll see that SMCC is having a far-reaching impact for the Kingdom of God in a wide variety of ways.

One of the biggest reasons we are able to do all of this is because of our generous supporters. Without their faithful contributions, this ministry could not exist. He uses those donations to reach, not only our summer campers, but people all over this world. We could never have imagined this, but God planned it this way all along. If you'd like to partner with us in ministry, you can easily make a contribution through the Donate button below.
