Let Them Come.

“Let the little children come to me.” The Lord used those simple words back in 1970 to birth in O.A. Fish the vision for South Mountain Christian Camp. Just a few years later, the first group of campers arrived on this property.

From the beginning, O.A. took those words very literally—to let the children come whether they can pay their camp fees or not. Since that time, over 25,000 children have attended summer camp here. Most of them did not have the money to pay for camp, but O.A. let them come.

Today, the camp property, facilities, and programs have grown tremendously. Summer camp enrollment is filled to capacity with over 100 campers on our waiting list hoping for a spot to open up for them. And we maintain our policy that no child will be denied the opportunity to attend camp for financial reasons.

O.A. went to his heavenly home on May 29th, and we will miss him tremendously. While we mourn the loss of our beloved founder, it is easy to imagine the Lord calling him home with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of your Lord.”

South Mountain Christian Camp stands as a testament to O.A.’s faith and dedication. He often said of working with the Lord, “He provides the inspiration; we provide the perspiration.” Indeed, there are many hours of hard work that O.A. poured into establishing this ministry, and countless are the lives that have been transformed as a result of his obedience to God.

In his wisdom, O.A. positioned South Mountain Christian Camp to continue after he was gone. This includes a small but dedicated staff, a long-standing board of directors (which includes his partner in life and ministry, Charlotte), and a team of committed volunteers and supporters like some of you.

Together we will keep this ministry moving forward, reaching the next generation of young people who so desperately need the Lord. And we will always let them come.
