A New Day

It was still pitch-black outside in the early hours of a frigid morning when the concrete trucks began rumbling into camp, disrupting the quiet and stillness with their important mission. A resilient crew of dedicated workers were already in position at the job site, ready for the moment we’ve been working and preparing for over the past many months. We were finally pouring the foundation and concrete floor of the new Multi-Purpose Building.
This critical new addition to South Mountain Christian Camp will have more impact on this ministry than any project in the last 25 years. Every week during summer camp, 24 camper beds remain empty even though we have kids on a waiting list who would love to fill them. This is because we do not have any more space in our chapel or dining rooms to squeeze those kids in. This new building will immediately address both problems, enabling us to reach 144 more campers every summer!
Additionally, this building will open new opportunities for ministry all year long, increasing our capacity for weekend retreats, special events, and other programs.
For years, lack of chapel space and dining space have limited the reach of this ministry, but now the Lord is taking us a big step forward in His vision by bringing this building about. The impact will last for generations.
So, as dawn began to break on the jobsite, and concrete was poured for hours on end, our hearts were filled with gratitude—to the Lord and to our supporters who have partnered with us to raise funds for the building.
We are already preparing for the next steps in the construction process, and we’re trusting God to continue bringing in the funds needed to complete this building. We need a total of 299 sponsors to sponsor a seat in the building at $3,300 each. Many have already contributed, but we still have more funds to raise.
