To help teachers in planning for a S.E.E.D.S. field trip at South Mountain Christian Camp, we've compiled this list of our most frequently asked questions and answered them all here. Just choose your question from the list below. If you have any questions that are not reflected in this list, please contact the Camp Office. Our staff is happy to help you in any way we can.

How long does the field trip last?

What is the cost for the field trip?

How should we plan for lunch?

How many students can we bring at one time?

Do we need to bring chaperones?

Do you offer this program all year?

What do we do if we have bad weather?

How do we make a reservation?

Q: How long does the field trip last?

A: The SEEDS program is a full-day field trip. Depending on travel time, we usually get started around 9 am. We do two hours of learning, take a break for lunch, then do two more hours in the afternoon. We adjust the program to fit the length of time you have available so that you can get back to school on time.

Q: What is the cost for the field trip?

A: We make every effort to keep the costs of our program as low a possible. We are currently offering SEEDS for just $4 per student. There is no charge for adults.

Q: How should we plan for lunch?

A: Think brown bag. Our cafeteria is available as an eating area, but we will not be serving meals during your visit, so students will need to bring their own lunch. We also have an area outside the cafeteria with plenty of picnic tables if you'd like to eat outside.

Q: How many students can we bring at one time?

A: We are now able to accept two or three classes (of the same grade level) at the same time for all three programs (up to about 60 students). These students will be kept in two separate groups for most of the day.

Q: Do we need to bring chaperones?

A: Yes. Because we will occasionally be working in small groups, the program runs much more smoothly if you have 3 adults (including the teacher) accompany each class. You are welcome to bring more adults if you like, and there is no charge for adults.

Q: Do you offer this program all year?

A: Unfortunately we are only able to offer this program during the Fall of each school year. In the future, we hope to be able to offer this program in the Spring also, but our current staff limitations make it impossible to do so at this time.

Q: What do we do if we have bad weather?

A: Come rain or shine! Our program has now been updated and expanded to provide for a wide variety of hands-on, educational activities which can been done indoors if necessary. This eliminates the need for rescheduling or cancelling your S.E.E.D.S. field trip. We look forward to hosting your class regardless of the weather.
